The main reason people need and ask for labs is...

One of the main reasons clients come to me is they are tired of the guess work.

The most common reason my clients come to me for help is they are not seeing the resutls they want to, they have tried diets, supplements and cleanses to no relief. And thats why testing is better place to start.

Why “testing before cleansing” matters

When you run labs first, you stop guessing what the body needs and see what is actually happening inside. Lab data shows you which systems are burdened (gut, liver, hormones, immune, detox pathways) and which are working well, so you can match the cleanse to reality instead of to a generic protocol. Without that information, you risk pushing the wrong system, missing a key problem, or feeling worse instead of better.

Problems with generic cleanses

Most cleanses are built for a “generic person,” not for you as an individual. They assume everyone needs the same liver support, the same antimicrobial herbs, the same level of fasting, or the same supplements. In practice, people can respond very differently. Someone with low stomach acid and constipation should not be on the same cleanse as someone with severe diarrhea and high gut inflammation. Yet that is exactly what happens when we cleanse without any testing; we treat everybody the same and hope for the best.

Generic cleanses can also stir things up without opening the “exits.” If your detox pathways, digestion, and elimination are not functioning well, a cleanse may mobilize toxins without clearing them, leading to headaches, rashes, fatigue, brain fog, or symptom flares. Lab work gives us a way to check those pathways in advance and make sure the basics are working before we add stress.

What labs reveal that you cannot “feel”

Many important imbalances are silent or nonspecific until they become bigger problems. Functional lab testing can reveal things you simply cannot feel or guess your way through:

  • Gut infections and overgrowths (bacteria, parasites, yeast) that may need specific support rather than a broad “detox tea.”

  • Inflammation levels, which tell us whether the system needs calming and repair first, before any aggressive cleanse.

  • Detox and liver‑related markers that show whether you can actually handle a stronger cleanse or whether we should focus on gentler support.

  • Hormone and adrenal patterns that influence how much stress your body can tolerate and what pace of change is realistic.

Two people can have the same symptoms—bloating, fatigue, joint pain—but completely different lab pictures. One may need focused gut support and antimicrobials; the other may need to calm auto‑immune activity and support liver‑gut hormone clearance. The plan is entirely different, and labs let us see that clearly.

Safer, more effective, and more personalized plans

When you run labs first, you can:

  • Choose the right type of cleanse: gut‑focused, liver‑focused, hormone‑supportive, or primarily anti‑inflammatory, rather than throwing everything at once.

  • Set the right intensity: some people can tolerate a stronger protocol; others need a very gentle, stepwise approach.

  • Prioritize what matters most: address the biggest, clearest burdens first instead of chasing every possible supplement or protocol you see online.

  • Track progress: when you re‑test down the road, you can see if your cleanse and lifestyle changes actually shifted the markers that matter.

This is how you turn a cleanse from a one‑time experiment into part of a real, long‑term health strategy.

A more professional and respectful approach

Finally, testing before cleansing is simply more respectful to the body. Instead of forcing it through a generic, one‑size‑fits‑all process, you pause and ask, “What is actually going on here?” You gather information, then design a plan that fits the person’s age, history, medications, stress level, and biology. That’s the difference between chasing trends and practicing true, individualized health care. CAre to learn more or discuss what you can learn about yourslef.
