Endurance athletes who also perform intervals, hills, sprints, or resistance training.

A blood test measuring 25-hydroxyvitamin D, often written as 25(OH)D, is the standard way to assess vitamin D status. The NIH notes that a blood concentration of 50 nmol/L (20 ng/mL) or above is adequate for most people, while levels above 125 nmol/L (50 ng/mL) may be too high and can pose health concerns.
Your needs can vary substantially based on:

Skin exposure to sunlight.
Skin pigmentation.
Time spent indoors.
Dietary intake.
Body size.
Age.

The adult tolerable upper limit is 5,000 IU per day from all sources unless a clinician has recommended otherwise. That does not mean every person needs 5,000 IU daily; it means that long-term high-dose supplementation should be purposeful and monitored.
Where vitamin K2 fits in
Vitamin K is involved in activating proteins that participate in blood clotting and bone metabolism. K2 is commonly paired with vitamin D3 in supplements because both nutrients relate to calcium metabolism.
The marketing around K2 can sometimes overpromise. It is more accurate to say that K2 is a reasonable nutrient to consider in the context of overall bone-health support, rather than claiming it “sends calcium directly into bones” or guarantees protection from arterial calcification.

Follow a vegetarian or vegan diet without careful zinc-rich food planning.
Have limited food variety.
Experience digestive or absorption issues.
